Discussion

When doing this experiment the results that I have found, is those who listens to Classical and R&B both had an average of 0.61%. Those who listened to Metal got an average of 0.51%. Those who listened to Country music, had on an average of 0.44%. From this average result, it shows that my result, does agree with the hypothesis that were stated, which was:

“Music with a heavy beat decrease the rate of your concentration, while music with a mellower beat will allow your mind to relax, allowing you to concentrate more”

The amount of concentration is measured by creating 5 different set of word list for each round, so each person would have to memorise under the given condition. (E.g while listening to music and without music). Four adolescents at different ages participated in the experiment in order to broaden the experiment. Each individuals have 5 rounds: No music, Classical, Metal, RnB and Country. The tested indivduals were to memorise the words without music and without music. This allows us to analyse the different scores with music. By comparing the scores of each individuals.

In conclusion, the purpose of conduction this experiment was to see which music would help you concentrate better. I state the mellower music would help you brain relax more, allowing you to memorise more words. By this I believe that I have proven that mellower music does help you concentrate more then music with a heavier beat.
